在2025-2026 秋季大湾区WSDA 即兴辩论开幕式上，来自深圳城市绿洲学校的洪佐伊作为选手代表发表致辞。

这位在各大赛事中多次夺得全国冠军、亚洲区第一名、最佳辩手与最佳外交官的选手，很难让人想到，她的辩论起点其实十分普通——四年级刚接触辩论时，她甚至连别人说话的语速都跟不上。

从“第一年零奖项”到“站上开幕式”，从完全跟不上的新手到多条赛道持续突破自我的选手，Zoe 用四年时间证明了一件事：辩论的舞台，从来不属于天才，它属于每一个愿意坚持、愿意一次次把自己推向更好的孩子。

Good morning, fellow debaters, judges, coaches, and parents.

My name is Zoe, and it is a true honour to stand here today as the representative of all the participants in the tournament.

各位辩手朋友、评委老师、教练和家长们，大家早上好。

我是Zoe。今天能站在这里，代表所有参赛选手发言，我深感荣幸。

Looking back on my journey as a debater, I am genuinely grateful for how far I have come. What started as a simple way to pass time and connect with others slowly grew into something much deeper -- a hobby that has become both a responsibility and a passion. I love debating. I feel proudest and most confident when I am on stage, facing my opponent, using my voice. This is the journey that has shaped me.

回顾我的辩论之路，我由衷感激这段成长旅程。最初只是为了消磨时间、结交朋友，后来却慢慢沉淀为更深层的热爱——辩论已成为我的一份责任，更是炽热的追求。我热爱辩论。每当站在台上面对对手，用声音传递观点时，是我最自豪、最自信的时刻。正是这段旅程塑造了今天的我。

When I first started debating in fourth grade, it was incredibly tough. I had no experience, and I couldn't even keep up with the fast speakers. No one is born with perfect English or natural debating skills. It takes hours and hours of practice just to understand the basics. In my first year, I received no prizes at all. I didn't understand structure, strategy, or how to analyse issues deeply.

It took a whole year before I earned my very first achievement-- a third prize. After that, I kept practicing, both alone and with other teammates. Slowly, I earned a few first prizes in online showcase debates, best speaker awards, and even became a champion at other tournaments. But I still haven't reached my dream yet: to stand on the main stage of an offline Showcase round – that has always been my dream. I believe in the power of intention, and I hope today is the day it comes true.

四年级刚接触辩论时，真的特别艰难。我毫无经验，甚至跟不上语速快的辩手。没有人天生英语流利，也没有人与生俱来就擅长辩论。光是理解基础，就要花费无数个小时练习。第一年，我一个奖项都没拿到——那时我不懂架构、不懂策略，更不知如何深入分析议题。

整整一年后，我才拿到第一个小小的成绩：三等奖。那之后，我继续练习，一个人练，也和队友一起练。慢慢地，我在线上比赛中拿过几次一等奖，进入showcase，得过“最佳辩手”，也在其他比赛中拿过冠军。但我心中始终有一个未完成的梦：站在线下showcase的主舞台上。我一直相信信念的力量，也希望今天，就是这个梦想成真的日子。

But debate, I have learned, is not just about winning (or winning trophies). It is about the skills we gain along the way. Debate teaches quick thinking, sharp reactions, and critical reasoning for rebuttals and crossfire. It also develops presentation skills -- projecting your voice, communicating clearly, and staying confident in front of a room full of strangers. Most importantly, debate brings people together to discuss real issues in our world.

To me, debate means a lot. It is a hobby I truly love, and I enjoy every part of it – from working with teammates to hunting for the perfect evidence. Debating gives me a chance to express myself and show my understanding to the world. And I believe that if I keep working hard towards my goals, one day I will reach the top of the mountain.

但我也渐渐明白，辩论不仅仅是为了输赢（或奖杯）。它关乎这一路上我们收获的能力：快速思考、敏捷反应、在反驳与自由驳辩中锤炼批判性思维；它也锻炼表达力——声音的掌控、清晰的沟通、在满场陌生人面前保持自信。更重要的是，辩论让我们相聚于此，共同探讨真实世界的议题。辩论对我意义非凡。它是我真心热爱的爱好，我享受其中的每个环节：和队友协作，寻找关键论据……辩论给了我表达自我、向世界展现理解的机会。我相信，只要朝着目标持续努力，终有一日，我会到达那座山的顶峰。

And to all my fellow debaters:  Never give up -- no matter how difficult the journey becomes.
